MVAC DUX Ceremony

MVAC launches a new tradition.

The DUX Ceremony, a premier awards event, celebrates exceptional academic achievement at the highest level. The presentation is new for Manning Valley Anglican College, as we have previously awarded the Dux to the student with the highest School Based Assessment. This presentation acknowledges the student with not only the highest results at the school level but also at the HSC level.

It was a privilege to present the Milton Fowell OAM DUX award to former College Captain Eden Rogers. With an outstanding ATAR score of 98.55, Eden’s accomplishment in her Higher School Certificate (HSC) was a testament to her dedication and perseverance.

It was a pleasure to welcome Eden back to the school to receive the award and address the assembly, sharing her inspiring story with her peers and past teachers. The opportunity to hear from Eden was an honour, and her words of wisdom did not go unnoticed.

Two of our Year 12 2024 students, Kalin Woods and Pacey MacAulay, gave us a fantastic musical performance. They will perform with Mr Saunders at Bravissimo in Port Macquarie next Tuesday.

Bravissimo is an annual HSC Music Showcase Concert. It features outstanding performances by HSC Music students from schools in the Mid-North Coast and New England Tablelands regions of New South Wales, Australia.  The concert highlights the exceptional talent of students who have excelled in their Music courses, with some performers being recognised as Encore nominees, placing them in the top 2% of the state.

After Eden’s address, former College Captain and successful MVAC Alumni Harrison Thomas joined her. Together they held a thought-provoking Q&A session with our current Year 12 students. This valuable connection provided reassurance and guidance about the importance of mind over matter, discipline, and balance in achieving academic success. The students took away valuable insights on how to stay focused and motivated during their own HSC journey.

We wish Eden and Harrison the best on their future journey as they embark on their chosen paths.
